Most people suffer from a misaligned Atlas vertebra (C1) without knowing that many postural imbalances and common aches and pain can be, quickly and simply, alleviate, or even resolved overtime, by realigning the first vertebra. The Atlasprofilax technique simply aims at realigning the 1st vertebrae.
Potentially everyone is concerned by Atlas misalignment even though it is difficult to assess a precise percentage as no big scale studies have been conducted so far. However Bartlett Joshua Palmer, a pioneer and son of David Daniel Palmer, the founder of chiropractic medicine, was the first to bring to light the misalignment of the Atlas bone, naming it 'Atlas subluxation complex'. He found out that 97% of his patients were affected by Atlas misalignment. According to BJ Palmer, if the Atlas position is good all neurophysiologic reflexes improve.
The Atlasprofilax® method is safe and does not involve any osseous manipulation. It consists in applying a patented device, ATLASPROFILAX Wellness®, to the short neck musculature only, using specific Acupuncture points, provoking the muscles and soft tissue of the upper neck to release so that the Atlas gently and effortlessly comes back into position (within the atlanto-occipital joint).
A dislocated Atlas can cause significant, adverse effects to a person's posture. When the first link of the spine (the Atlas) is misaligned, every link down to the last vertebrae may be affected. The body naturally tries to compensate for this imbalance and uneven weight distribution between the two halves of the body.
Atlas misalignment also restricts the opening of the spinal cord the flow of signals travelling from the brain to all parts of the body inhibited. The nervous system's ability to assess the body's needs is undermined. Imbalance in the central nervous system can result in energy blockages, which in turn can become the underlying cause of illness and psychological ailments.
Atlasprofilax addresses a large scope of conditions including:
Back problems including trapped nerves, scoliosis, slipped discs, trapped nerves
  • Stiff neck, Whiplash
  • Frozen Shoulders
  • Temporal mandibular disorder (TMD or TMJ)
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Balance problem
  • Blood pressure, hypertension
  • Displaced pelvis
  • Knee pain
  • Difference in leg length.
Only two or three sessions are needed to realign the first vertebrae. The effects of realignment are often dramatic and immediate. Neck tensions and stiffness are relieved and it also triggers a self healing process.
