Atlas, axis and merridian link (I think)

The Atlas axis are linked to merridian in acupuncture its something to do with where they split thats why its significant. I'm no expert but there seems to be a connection.  Google: chiropractic, atlas and merridians and I think you will come accross some interesting info.
