An expensive mistake, 11 MRIs the cost of that alone

This is a post and a reply off of MS Societies Limbolans board. This is exactly my point, these people are left in complete distress, its a disgrace.

How much money this ms mistake has cost.

Yes I have been diagnosed with MS Yes on a positive MRI yes I've had some psychological issues, due to the ms idea. yes I've expeienced all indicative symptoms, except fatigue.
No. I do not have ms no I cannot walk but for very different reasons . They need to reassess the whole flawed ms theory, and yes STRESS can have a profound affect not only psychologically but physically too.

How long does it take to get diagnosed?????????????

I have been having what I would could neurological symptoms for the last 17 years. I have also had an extremely abusive childhood. I am sharing this in desperation after having an arguement with my doctor when he said 'in passing' that of course my symptoms are 'psychological'. Currently I have a slipped disk so my normally good leg is very bad at the moment and I am waiting for surgery in 5 weeks. This is what we were talking about when he just dropped in he thought the other symptoms were NOT organic.
Because of my horrific childhood I have seen a psychologist for years and after all these years I managed to honestly say to him I think I have M S and he said, 'if I was you I would think I had MS too'. I went home and cried a bit cos it was nice to hear someone else think that's what it is.
SOOOOO when the doc said this to me I was shocked, angry, upset, hurt and more than anything shocked all over again. I have had about 3 brain scans?.. one lumbar puncture. Electro thingies..( ages ago) and I am spent. NO MORE... I said to the doc

I THINK I HAVE M S BUT IF I DON'T IT MAY TAKE TIME BUT ONE DAY SOMETHING BIG WILL HAPPEN AND SUDDENLY YOU WILL FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME. BUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME IS ORGANIC! THEN HE SAID THEN LETS HAVE ANOTHER BRAIN SCAN ( LIKE A THREAT) I SAID NO I HAVE HAD ENOUGH..HE SAID BUT WE COULD GIVE YOU SOME TREATMENT IF THAT'S WHAT IT IS ..I SAID NO I DON'T WANT ANYMORE TESTS.....

I have been treated like a nut case for years ..same old..something physically wrong but no evidence or whatever to support any diagnosis of M S. I am tired and fed up with it all..so angry now yet proud of myself for sticking up for myself!

I am furious...absolutely furious and I was just hoping to find some one on here who understood my frustrations

thanks

I was treated like a hypochondriac for 13 years. 11 clear MRI's and 2 clear LP's as well as all the other tests they do came back normal.

In Jan 09 I had my biggest relapse ever (all the other relapses were non visible i.e fatigue, numbness, vision issues, mild weakness.) My big relapse involved vertigo in its severest form followed quickly after by sharp shocks going down my body and weak arms and legs. I then had my 12th MRI and my 3rd LP and both were positive and I was diagnosed with MS.

Because my aunt had MS the dr's thought I was looking on the internet and finding symptoms to tell them!!! Now why would I do that????? I saw 7 neuros in total plus 2 rheumatologists, an immunologist, an infectious disease specialist.

If it is MS it will show eventually.....

Sorry to hear about your traumatic childhood. Maybe its worth you reading Anne Boroch's book about MS as she feels chronic diseases can be rooted from traumatic experiences in some. I have had no trauma in my life except health issues so I didn't think it applied to me but maybe to you. I wish you the best x     ... read replies [1]
